Cochin Chickens
Unfortunately in 2013 we had to sell off our flock of Cochins. But I have started a small flock of bantams again. As of June 2014 we have Mottled Bantam Eggs developing in the incubator! Check back in 2015 for more Bantam chicks for sale!
Cochins are by far my favorite chicken breed! They are well known for being big friendly balls of fluff and feathers. They typically don't lay as well as traditional egg laying breeds but they make excellent broody hens with fantastic mothering qualities. They are very popular because of their sweet personality and make great backyard pets who will tolerate children well. Cochins became famous in the 1800s when this Chinese breed was given as a gift to Queen Victoria of England, who absolutely adored them. Cochins will adapt very easily to confined spaces or open range. The cochin is a hardy, friendly, and docile chicken that will make a great backyard pet. They are also very beautiful looking and great at keeping bugs out of your yard!
Cochins come in two sizes. Bantam & Standards. I have both in my flock.

My Bantams
Many people keep Bantam Cochins as pets. They are also excellent brooders and can be good egg layers. Bantam Cochins are sometimes used as a foster mother for other breeds because of their excellent mothering skills.
Bantam Cochins typically weigh between 20 to 30 oz.. Their impressive plumage makes them appear much larger than they actually are.
